Welcome to Pocky

Rocking the suburbs, one Daruma at a time

…and it couldn’t get any worse, right…?

Last night, I came home with plans to walk the dog, tidy the house and then head to the hospital to see Mannie… but that didn’t happen. It appears whatever she had, I got too. Suffice to say my body gave the evacuation notice and instead of seeing Mannie, I was up until 2:30 AM trying to get a couple Gravol to stay down so that I could get some water in me.

Mark and Harry came over last night to walk Lizzie and see if I needed anything, which was most appreciated, thank you so much!

Anyways, I woke up this morning, dehydrated and feeling like I was hit by a bus, but I’ve been drinking lots of water (which is staying down, thank god) and even ate a little leftover white rice.

Mannie’s doctor gave her the scoop — while she hasn’t dilated any further, her cervix shortened a bit. The doctors are concerned because a 24 1/2 week baby only has a 50% survival rate. They want her to reach 28 weeks at least, the longer the better.

As a result, she is to stay at the hospital until I am in a position to take care of her again. Until the baby is at least 28 weeks old (which is about new year’s day) Mannie won’t be allowed to work, or to even leave the house. Instructions are to sit/lie down as much as possible except to go bathroom, shower and eat.

Sorry to those looking forward to seeing us in Edmonton over the holidays — looks like we ain’t going anywhere. Probably won’t make too many Christmas parties either…

Thanks to everyone’s support — this is the most difficult of times and I appreciate the love and friendship we’ve gotten from our friends and family. Thank you so very much for being there.

Dan

It’s us, yesterday afternoon.
